Tae Kwon Do for Children
Ages 6-12 years
Tae Kwon Do is the Korean art of self-defense. This art is taught to children to instill self-discipline and promote physical fitness. They will learn new skills every time they train and enjoy a sense of accomplishment, more focus and concentration, respect for authority, and self defense. Confidence will build after each successful class is completed. This class also includes “mat chats” to help with various life skills such as bully prevention, responsibility, discipline, good manners and habits of a healthy lifestyle among others. Students will be "sampling" the general classes to get an idea of what training in a regular class is like, so there may be other higher belts in the same class.
Children who study this art will benefit from:
- increased self-esteem (able to refuse peer pressure)
- more confidence and assertiveness (able to raise hand and participate in school)
- more focus and concentration (better grades in school)
- better discipline and self-control (good behavior)
- respect for authority (high regard for parents and teachers)
- self-defense (able to stand up to bullies in case of emergency)
- physical activity (burns off excess energy that children tend to have!)
