Coach Pitch and T-Ball
Boys & Girls Ages – ages 4 through 8
It’s the time of the year to play baseball with the Franklin Recreation Department. Come and join us for our summer youth baseball leagues.
These are great programs which teach the basics of baseball/softball within a fun environment.
There will be two weeks of practice before games begin. Once games begin, there will be one game day and one practice day per week.
Practices will be on Wednesdays or Thursdays.
Registration Deadline: Monday, May 15th
You will be placed on a wait list until we have enough coaches per number of kids registered.
Mandatory Coach’s Meeting: For new coaches only.
Location: Franklin High School – Room A110
Meets: Tuesday, May 21st
Time: 5:45-6:15pm
Once rosters and schedules are made, the head coaches will notify their teams.
Practices will begin the week of June 10th.
Practices will be held on Wednesday or Thursday evenings for 45 minutes from 5-7 PM.
Game and Practice LOCATION: St. Martins Park (Next to Robinwood Elementary)
***Note: All children must bring a baseball glove to each practice/game.
T-Ball – Boys & Girls, Ages 4-5
T-Ball is the entry level to baseball. There’s no pitching, rather the batter hits the ball off a stationary batting “T.” During T-Ball, your child will develop the primary skills of hitting, running, fielding and throwing. The players will gain an understanding of the fundamentals, which allows for minimal competitive league play. NO scores will be kept and each player will have a chance to bat each inning.
Games will be on Mondays, starting June 24th some time between 5:00-7:00pm. Games last 50 minutes - Schedule TBD.
Coach Pitch – Boys & Girls, Ages 6-8
Coach Pitch allows the coaches to pitch to their team based on each player’s needs. Coaches will modify their speed and distance depending on the ability of the players. The purpose of the league will be to continue teaching the players about baseball concepts and work on improvement of basic skills, including hitting, throwing, catching and fielding the ball. Please register under the correct age.
Games will be on Tuesdays, starting June 25th some time between 5:00-8:00pm. Games last 50 minutes - Schedule TBD.
