Youth Winter Basketball League
REGISTRATION DEADLINE FOR ALL LEAGUES: OCTOBER 18 or until spots are full. You will be put on a waitlist until more coaches volunteer.
Please note: Team assignments and game schedules will be made after registration has concluded. We rely on volunteer coaches to run our leagues. Coaches will receive a 50% registration refund after the season. If we do not have enough coaches for the number of kids wanting to participate, we will close registration early. Please consider being a coach.
Kindergarten - 1st Grade Boy's and Girl's League
This league will be recreational and will focus on skill development and sportsmanship. No scores will be kept. The first three weeks will be a practice only where parent involvement is highly encouraged. During the remaining five weeks, teams will practice for a portion of their time and then finish with game play. During each game, referees will stop play to explain rules and fundamentals. Boys and girls will play together. Basketball hoops at Southwood Glen Elementary will have 8 foot rims. All kindergarteners must be enrolled in 5 year-old Kindergarten, not K4.
Other K-1 League Information:
GAME/PRACTICE DATES: Saturdays, December 14 – February 8 (No games Decemeber 28)
GAME TIMES: TBD – Typically in the morning. The times will be determined once registration is complete. There are no weekly practices for this league.

Mandatory Coaches Meeting for K-1 Coaches
Monday, November 18th
TIME: 6:00-7:00pm
LOCATION: Franklin High School – Room A110
2nd Grade Boys and 2nd & 3rd Grade Girl League
This league is designed to introduce your young athlete to the fundamentals of the game. This is a great way to have fun, learn new skills and meet new friends! Basketball hoops at Southwood Glen will have 8 foot rims. We will do our best to keep girls and boys on separate teams, however, based on numbers, girls and boys may be combined on a team.
Teams in this league will have one practice a week for 50 minutes with games on Saturdays.
**Registration requests will be prioritized by practice day and reciprocated friend requests.**
Other 2nd Grade Boys And 2-3 Grade Girls League Information:
PRACTICE TIMES/LOCATION: Practice is held once a week for 50 minutes. Starting the week of November 18th ranging from 6pm to 9pm, Monday -Thursday at any of the FPS elementary schools.
GAME DATES: Saturdays, December 14 – February 15 (No games 12/28)
GAME TIMES: TBD – The times will be determined once registration is complete.
GAME LOCATION: Southwood Glen – Gym
Mandatory Coaches Meeting
Thursday, November 7th
TIME: 6:00pm-7:00pm
LOCATION: Franklin High School – Room A110
3rd – 8th Grade Boys and 4th – 8th Grade Girls Leagues
Teams are broken down by grade level and will be based on registration numbers.
Boys = 3-4th grade, 5-6th grade, 7-8th grade
Girls = 4-5th grade, 6-8th grade
We will hold player evaluations prior to making the teams to keep the team as equal as possible. Special requests are rarely granted in this league to ensure teams are evenly matched and for kids to meet other kids in the district. We will keep boys and girls separate per age level but may need to combine ages based on numbers.
Teams in this league will have one practice a week for 50 minutes and games on Saturdays.
Player Evaluation's will be held on Monday, November 4th at Southwood Glen Elementary Gym from 6:00 - 7:30PM
- The Player’s Evaluation will consist of athletes rotating from station to station completing a variety of different basketball drills.
- Players are required to attend; there is no alternate date.
- 3-4th graders = arrive between 6:00 - 6:30.
- 5-8th graders = arrive between 6:45 - 7:00.
- Plan on evaluations taking a half an hour.
- Teams will be formed off of evaluations.
- Players must be registered prior to participate in the evaluation. There is no on site registration.
