Mindfulness and Meditation for Daily Living

Co-Op with Oak Creek

Ages 16+

In this beginning meditation class you will develop skills for being a more mindful, neutral witness in order to respond more skillfully and peacefully throughout your day.
Each class begins with a relaxation practice to release stress and receive more vitality.  We will explore the breathing qualities which help to calm the body, mind and nervous system as well as a breathing practice for harmonizing both hemispheres of the brain which provides a sense of inner joy.  We will discuss what a mantra is and how using breath awareness and a mantra in meditation can help free the mind from outer distractions and bring a deeper experience to the meditator.  You will learn an easy 4 step process for brief 2-3 minute meditations or longer practices. At the end of every class we will enjoy the benefits of a short guided group meditation.
All levels of experience are welcome.
NOTE: Please bring a yoga mat and a small cushion. Dress comfortably for class.

INSTRUCTOR:  Lata Massa, a certified teacher in the Himalayan Yoga and Meditation Tradition, studied both in the US and India and has been teaching locally since 2008.
